Hornsen (HS) TZOU is the Director of Interdisciplinary Research Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics in College of Aerospace Engineering at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) (09/2015-…), the 1st--round Fellow and National Professor of the Thousand-Talent Program of China (2008), an ASME Fellow (1996), Professor Emeritus at the University of Kentucky, and a Chair-Professor (03/2016-06/2019) at Zhejiang University. He joined Zhejiang University (09/2009-12/2015) after nearly 30-year service at the University of Kentucky (UK) (Dept. of Mechanical Engineering). He earned his M.S. and Ph.D. from the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University in 1979 and 1983 respectively. He was among the pioneers in “smart structures and structronic systems.” His research and teaching interests encompass smart structures and structronic systems, precision mechatronics, hybrid multi-functional piezo/photo/flexo /megneto/electro/elastic structures, design and micro-actuation of biomedical devices and tools, dynamics and distributed sensing/control of discrete and distributed systems (shells, plates, etc.), nonlinear joint/contact dynamics and control, electromechanics, opto-thermopiezoelectric devices and systems, etc. He was invited and worked at IBM (CAD/CAM and Printer R&D), Wright Laboratory (Flight Dynamics Lab), the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS) (Kanagawa, Japan), Tohoku University (Sendai, Japan), the Otto-von-Guericke University of Magdeburg and German Aerospace Research Establishment (DLR) (Braunschweig, Germany), Amway Research R&D (IRI/ASEE Fellow, 1988), Tokyo Institute of Technology (Japan) (2001 Chair of International Cooperation), NASA Levis, Harbin Institute of Technology (China), National Taiwan University (NSC Chair Professor,2006-07), etc. He directed the StrucTronics and Design Lab (founded by NSF, JPL, ARO, NASA, AFOSR, Pratt-Whitney, IBM, Ford, industries, etc. since 1985) at UK. Dr. Tzou has won six paper awards (including ASME and AIAA Best-Paper Awards), six ASME Service Awards and three NASA Class-1 New Technology Disclosure Awards (2001, 2003 and 2009). He has authored and co-authored over 500 technical publications and was named “One of the Most Cited Authors” by the Journal of Sound of Vibration in 11/2006, “2011 top-ten cited paper” in Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018 one of “the most cited researchers in Mechanical Engineering” in China (Elsevier), etc. He authored Piezoelectric Shells (Sensing, Energy Harvesting and Distributed Control) (two editions) and Design of Smart Structures, Devices and Structronic Systems (two editions) and edited seven other books. He was Chair (07/2012-11/2014) and Deputy (11/2008-06/2012) of the ASME Board on Technical Knowledge Dissemination (BTKD), Executive Member of Technical Communities Operating Board (TCOB) and Chair of ASME Interdisciplinary Councils (11/2008-06/2012), a founding member of the ASME Adaptive Structures and Material Systems Committee, the General Chair of the 2007 ASME International Design Technical Conferences and Computers & Information in Engineering Conference (IDETC/CIE), the Conference Chair of the 21st Mechanical Vibration and Sound Conference, Co-chair of the 23 International Conference on Adaptive Structures Technologies, etc.

Qiu has extensive experiences in the analysis and design of power generator, gas and liquid fuel burners, and heat exchangers. He is currently working on the development of a SOLID FUEL BURNER. This burner is to be used to gasify supplied charcoal, combusts and transfers heat to a Stirling engine for power generation. He is also developing an advanced Stirling generator for combined heating and power generation under a DOE ARPA-E grant. Qiu has served as PI for numerous research projects funded by DOE, DoD (Army, Navy, Air Force) and NASA. He was the prime designer of an Advanced Radioisotope Stirling Generator (ARSG) for NASA/DOE. He is the lead inventor of 9 issued US patents.

Angelina Tsuboi is a software developer and an aerospace cybersecurity instructor focusing on satellite systems. With over a decade of programming and development experience in addition to being a scientific researcher for NASA, she has been involved in numerous aeronautical and space-focused security initiatives for a wide range of applications ranging from drones, aircraft, and satellites. Driven by her passion for teaching, Angelina finds joy in simplifying complex subjects such as aerospace, cybersecurity, and programming to empower her students, Angelina focuses on ensuring that her students can readily apply the acquired skills to their professional and personal endeavors. Prof. Shunli Wang is a Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Executive Vice President of Smart Energy Storage Institute, Academic Dean of Electric Power College at Inner Mongolia University of Technology, Academician of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, IET Fellow, Provincial Senior Overseas Talent, Academic Leader of the National Electrical Safety and Quality Testing Center, Tianfu Qingcheng Provincial Scientific and Technological Talent, Academic and Technical Leader of China Science and Technology City, Top 2% Worldwide Scientist. Dr. Patrick Siarry is a professor at the University Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC) since 2010. His research area is relatively (since 1982) new “metaheuristic” optimization such as simulated annealing, which is indicated for the so-called problems of “hard optimization” because of their ability to avoid in principle, trapping in sub-optimal solutions. Much of his work is explicitly one or the other keywords – in particular, modeling, identification, learning rule bases (artificial intelligence), control, nondestructive testing, and maintaining biological and medical engineering. Since 2009 he has served as a Director of Team Image Processing and Signal (TIS) at the Laboratory of Images, Signals, and Intelligent Systems. Prof. Siarry has 12 frames at 100% of doctoral theses and scientific career, for 32 years, resulting in various publications. The scientific and research activities of Prof. P. Siarry confirm him as a leading scientist in the area of “metaheuristic” optimization.

Jieshan Qiu, Cheung-Kong Distinguished Professor of Carbon Science and Chemical Engineering at Beijing University of Chemical Technology, China. His research encompasses both fundamental and applied aspects of carbon materials and science, with a focus on the methodologies of producing carbon materials for energy storage and conversion, catalysis, and environment protection. He has published 900+ papers in peer-reviewed journals, including Nature Mater., Adv. Mater., Adv. Funct. Mater., Adv. Energy Mater., Energy Environ. Sci., PNAS, Nature Commun., ACS Nano, Angew. Abdullah Abbas Kendoush has completed his PhD at the age of 30 years from Strathclyde University (UK) in 1976 and was a Chief Scientist at the Iraqi Atomic Energy Commission and the Ministry of Sciences and Technology in Baghdad. He taught at the Universities of Baghdad, Al-Mustansiryah, Al-Nahrain, and the University of Technology. He was a visiting professor at the University of Florida in 2006 and then a post doctoral fellow at Georgia Institute of Technology. He is Editor of journal of Engineering. Currently, he teaches nuclear engineering technology at Augusta Technical College, Augusta, Georgia, USA. He has published more than 60 papers in reputed journals and conferences and has been serving as an editorial board member of some journals. He is a member of ASME.

Yang Xianguang is an associate professor at Jinan University. He received his undergraduate and doctoral degrees from Sun Yat-sen University and was jointly trained by the École Normale Supérieure in Paris, France.

Dr Krishnan Ravi is a postdoctoral researcher at Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany, working on the selective oxidation of olefins using carbon materials. He received his joint Ph.D. from the Academy of Scientific and Industrial Research (AcSIR) at CSIR- CSIR-Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute, Bhavnagar, India under the supervision of Dr Ankush Biradar and from RMIT University with Prof. Karen Wilson and Prof. Adam Lee, Melbourne, Australia. His current research interests are in the development of catalysts for biomass conversion to fuels and value-added chemicals through reductive amination, hydroxyalkylation/alkylation, CO2 utilisation, isomerisation and hydroformylation.

I am an Armenian, and my homeland is Armenia. Science is my element. My area of interest is natural sciences. From natural phenomena, I have given a new explanation for the occurrence of hail (The Formation of the Hail and the Newlycome Snow. XXI International Congress of Teoretical and Applied Mechanics. 2004,Warsaw, Poland) In recent years, I have mainly dealt with the problems of astronomy and astrophysics, starting with the Big Bang, the formation of the Solar system, issues of energy and stability of stars. I also consider my scientific work “On the experiment of Michelson-Morley” (PhysCon 2009. Catania, Italy.) to be one of my important achievements. where I proved that the mentioned experiment, which is the basis of Einstein's theory, was a failed experiment.

He majors in energy system such as HVAC and its heat transfer, optimal design and control of refrigerator, reliability design of thermal components, and failure Analysis of thermal components in marketplace using the Non-destructive such as SEM & XRAY. In 1992.03–1997 he worked in Agency for Defense Development, Chinhae, South Korea, where he has researcher in charge of Development of Naval weapon System. He was working as a Senior Reliability Engineer in Refrigerator Division, Digital Appliance, SAMSUNG Electronics. Now he is working as associate professor in mechanical department, Ethiopian Technical University.
